As we commemorate this special occasion, I am reminded of the profound philosophy of education that has guided our school since its inception. Our school motto, "To enlighten with wisdom, manifest compassion and pursue kindness and virtue," encapsulates the essence of our educational approach.
To enlighten with wisdom is to foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a thirst for knowledge. At Buddhist Sin Tak College, we strive to provide a comprehensive and rigorous academic curriculum that challenges students to explore beyond the boundaries of textbooks. Through a combination of innovative teaching methods, experiential learning opportunities, and a supportive environment, we aim to ignite the flame of wisdom within each student, empowering them to become lifelong learners.
The diligent efforts of our teachers and students have resulted in remarkable achievements in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination 2023. A noteworthy 88% of our S.6 graduates have received offers from local universities for degree courses. Among these, Chan Hang Lok has attained exceptional results, achieving level 5** in five subjects and level 5* in two subjects. As a result, he has been admitted to the CUHK Medicine Programme (Global Physician-Leadership Stream) and awarded the prestigious Hong Kong Jockey Club Chairman’s Scholarship.
Manifesting compassion is at the core of our school's ethos. We believe in cultivating empathy, understanding, and respect for others. To promote moral values, our school has introduced a mascot named Dorfun, a beloved cartoon character. Over the past few years, Dorfun has grown alongside our students, embodying qualities such as perseverance, resilience, respect for others, empathy, and positivity, among other virtues.
Since assuming the role of principal in 2019, it has been both a privilege and a responsibility to uphold the vision and mission of our school. I am forever indebted to the founders, school supervisors, former principals, and all those who have dedicated their time and efforts to the development of Buddhist Sin Tak College. Their unwavering commitment to educational excellence has laid a strong foundation for our present achievements and future endeavors.
I would like to take a moment to pay tribute to the late Principal Ho Moon Tim, a visionary leader and my mentor. His unexpected passing was a profound loss for our school community. However, his indomitable spirit and passion for education continue to inspire us. I have endeavored to fulfill his vision and uphold the school's mission, ensuring that his legacy remains alive in the hearts and minds of all who pass through our halls.
