Our students got hands-on experience creating radio programmes about Hong Kong history during April and May 2021. Organized by the Chinese Culture Development Association (香港中華文化發展聯合會), the activity “歷史文化學堂．香港街道紀行——電台講演” invited students to write scripts and record radio programmes with topics related to the history of streets in Hong Kong.
Two groups of our students finished their projects based on the past of Tai Kwun (the Former Central Police Station Compound) and Sun Yat-Sen’s activities in Hong Kong in the 1880s and 1890s). Students collected historical data, wrote scripts, and record the programmes under the supervision of History teacher. Both groups were highly recognized by the organizer, and they were invited to record new versions of their work in the Metro Radio in June 2021. The new versions of the programmes had been aired on the Metro Radio (FM 99.7) on 31 August and 7 September 2021.
The activity had successfully enhanced students’ understanding and interests on the history of Hong Kong, as well as deepened the relationship of the students.
