Buddhist Sin Tak College marked its momentous Golden Jubilee on December 5, 2023, with a ceremony and a series of performances at the Jockey Club Auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Sze Chun Fai, Jeff, JP, the Acting Secretary for Education, and Ven. Kuan Yun, the President of the Hong Kong Buddhist Association.
The celebration commenced with a vibrant fluorescent dragon dance, setting the stage for a series of subsequent events. A significant highlight was the cheque presentation ceremony, acknowledging the generosity of The S.H. Ho Foundation for their donation of HK$2,277,000 and The Golden Jubilee The Most Ven. Kok Kwong Memorial Foundation for their contribution of HK$1,432,000. This occasion served as an opportunity for us to express our heartfelt gratitude to our benefactors and everyone who has supported us, including our dedicated school supervisor, Ven. Ku Tay, whose ongoing support and guidance have been invaluable.
In a magnificent display of talent, our school's Chinese Orchestra, Western Orchestra, and Choir delivered breathtaking performances. A special mention goes to Mr. Chan King Tsun, an esteemed alumnus and founder of the “Tsun Lok Dizi Ensemble Group,” who joined the Chinese Orchestra for an exceptional performance.
The day was further commemorated by the debut of our first original English musical, "Pitch and Point," a creative endeavor with the music, lyrics, and storyline crafted by our talented teachers, alumni, and students. The live music was masterfully performed by the elite members of both our Chinese and Western orchestras. Over 100 students participated in the production, with many working diligently behind the scenes. These unsung heroes played a crucial role in the musical's success, embodying our Golden Jubilee slogan, "Embracing challenges, unleashing potential."
As we reflect on this milestone, we are inspired by the hope that BSTC students will continue to excel and illuminate the various stages of their lives with the same determination and brilliance.
