Hi. My
name is David B Mason and I am the Native English Speaking teacher at Buddhist Sin Tak College. I started teaching here at the beginning of the
2004-2005 academic year and I must say I am enjoying myself thoroughly.
Like the previous NET, I too am Australian. I, however, come from a
northern state of Australia called Queensland. I live in the capital city
of Queensland which is called Brisbane. The weather in Brisbane is almost
identical to Hong Kong, except that it is a little warmer in winter in
Brisbane!
I have
been teaching for ten years in Australia and around the Asia-Pacific area.
I have taught in Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and China. I have a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Social Policy and Indonesian Language, a Graduate
Diploma of Education in English and Indonesian and a Master of Educational
Studies in Linguistics and Educational Psychology. I believe my experience
and education has allowed me to better understand Asian students. I hope!
Now a
little about my private life. I am 35 years old and I have a beautiful
wife called Cissie and very handsome eight year old son called Josh. All
of us love living in Hong Kong and we think we are very lucky to be here
with you. We have found Hong Kong people to be very friendly and helpful.
We also really enjoy the international flavour of Hong Kong. There is so
much to do and see. There are two things that I really like about teaching
at Buddhist Sin Tak College. The first thing is the professionalism of
my colleagues. I have found the teachers at our school are dedicated and
knowledgeable. I am much humbled by them. Secondly, I find the students
here are motivated and fun to teach. (Well most of the time).
I am
looking forward to meeting and talking with as many students and parents
as possible, so please feel free to come and chat with me when you can.
Until then. |
