2024-12-19Boy Scout oath-taking ceremony 2024
Ten S.1 boys have taken their oaths to join the Scout Section of the 15th South Kwai Chung Group. The ceremony was supervised by Principal Chan and Mr. CK Chan, Deputy District Commissioner of the South Kwai Chung District. Our new members have pledged to uphold the Scout Laws, fulfill their duties to the best of their abilities, and assist others. Additionally, newly appointed senior patrol leaders, patrol leaders, and assistant patrol leaders have received their appointments.
2024-12-13Prefect Team Leadership Training 2024-2025
Organized on 13 Dec 2024, the training session aims to help school prefects understand themselves and their team members. Through a series of group games and leadership lectures, the newly appointed school prefects can have their confidence boosted, sense of identity strengthened and skills in discharging daily duties cultivated so that they will be more certain of their role when serving the school.
2024-12-03S.1 Tie-tying Competition
This activity aims to teach students that proper and neat attire not only reflects self-respect but also serves as a starting point for learning to respect others through tying tie. Each class from S.1 will select four representatives to participate, and all participants will begin tying their ties at the same time. Judges will score based on neatness and appearance, while the class which has all participates complete the tie first will earn the highest speed score. Through this activity, students can also learn the importance of teamwork and communication while practicing and teaching classmates.
2024-11-28Visit to Hong Kong Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre
In this activity, students experienced the day-to-day work of an oceanographer. They used various scientific equipment to measure the parameters of seawater and atmosphere. They also investigated the properties of seawater and marine organisms by observing plankton, performing scientific measurements and learning how human activities affect marine biodiversity. This activity has enhanced students’ scientific knowledge and their awareness to environmental protection.
2024-11-24Outstanding Performance in the Drama Festival 2023-24
Our drama team entered the 2023-24 Drama Festival and on 16th April it was announced that they had won ‘Award for Commendable Overall Performance’, ‘Award for Outstanding Cooperation’ and two actors were awarded ‘Award for Outstanding Performer’ for their performance of ‘The White Lake House’, written and directed by their drama teacher, Mr Nickel Tsang. The Scout Team of BSTC, Scout Section, 15th South Kwai Chung Group, has been awarded the outstanding troop for consecutive 5 years. This year, the Scout Team was also awarded the Regional Commissioner Special Commendation Award.
2024-11-07Chemists Online Self-study Award Scheme 2024

Our S.6 Chemistry students joined “Chemists Online Self-study Award Scheme 2024” jointly organised by Hong Kong Virtual University and the Science Education Section of the Education Bureau. The program is to enhance students’ science literacy and pursue self-learning in Chemistry. 20 of our students got awards in this scheme.

S.1 students visited the Hong Kong Wetland Park during their IS lessons. By joining a field trip named “Wetland Conservation and Sustainable Development”, our students learnt more knowledge on biodiversity and natural habitat. More importantly, they understand more about the importance of protecting our environment and ecosystem.

2024-09-24Thematic Speech: China in Cultural Relics
S.1 to S.5 students participated in the national education seminar titled "China in Cultural Relics," in which Mr. Leung Wai-kit from The Education University of Hong Kong was invited as the guest speaker. Mr. Leung, who possesses extensive qualifications and expertise in Chinese heritage, showcased the wisdom of ancient Chinese people during his presentation. He taught the students about Chinese cultural artifacts, allowing them to explore the treasures of Chinese culture. The students displayed strong engagement and actively participated throughout the seminar.

In order to cultivate self-discipline and a sense of belonging in S.1 students and promote Chinese traditional culture, the Board of Discipline invited 2 martial art masters from GREAT CHINA Shaolin Culture (大中華少林武學) to hold a hall assembly where our S.1 students had a rewarding and enjoyable encounter with Chinese martial arts.

Fan Ka Ho was accepted into the prestigious Medicine (MBChB) Programme Global Physician-Leadership Stream (GPS). Principal Chan was delighted to celebrate with them at the White Coat Ceremony 2024. 2024-09-21照亮靈魂的微光—黎紫書講座2024
On September 21, 2024, S.4 students of the Chinese Literature Group participated in a seminar featuring the author Li Zi Shu, organized by the CNEC Christian College. The principal, Dr. Chan Chi Kian, and the editor of Li Zi Shu's Short Stories《黎紫書小小說》,Mr. Pao Kwok Hung, discussed with Li Zi Shu about the element of humanistic sensibility in literary works, from which the students greatly benefited. After the seminar, the students were delighted to receive autographs from Li Zi Shu and took photos together to commemorate the occasion.
2024-09-17Geological and Ecological cultural tour of Denmark and Iceland
6B Leung Kam Wan, a member of the Class of 2024, participated in an eight-day geological and ecological cultural tour of Denmark and Iceland, along with a series of public speaking and program management training courses, organized by the “Never Give Up” Association (永不放棄同學會) of Mak’s Academy (麥潤壽教室) between May and July 2024. The tour featured visits to iconic landmarks such as the Copenhagen Opera House, Nyhavn, Gullfoss Waterfall, and the University of Iceland, where participants attended a lecture on earthquake formation. Kam Wan also served as the master of ceremonies for one of the events during the trip. This experience not only broadened her horizons but also enhanced her public speaking skills.

2024-07-26Young Astronaut Training Camp
Chan Chui Sze, an S.5 student, shared her thoughts on her incredible nine-day journey at the Young Astronaut Training Camp, visiting key space and technology sites like The Wenchang Space Launch Site (中國文昌航天發射場) and Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center (酒泉衛星發射中心). She learned about astronaut training, tasted space food, and explored advanced aerospace technologies. The visit deepened her understanding of China's efforts in space exploration and its importance.

2024-07-05Joint Buddhist College Mathematics Competition (organized by Hong Kong Buddhist Association Secondary Schools)

10 S3 students won Champion in Joint Buddhist College Mathematics Competition after a period of training at school. They learnt to cooperate with team members and respond fast. Furthermore, they acquired a deeper understanding on Mathematics after encountering and solving numerous challenging questions.

2024-07-03Chinese Voice-acting Competition
Voice Acting Competition is the last academic activity held by the Chinese Department before the end of the school year. It aims to provide junior form students with a platform to brush up their language skills through performing and learn from their peers. Over the years, the competition has attracted a growing number of participants. Competitors performed with enthusiasm while the audience had a great time immersing themselves in the world of literature.

Ten S.3-S.5 Boy Scout members from our school participated in the flag-raising ceremony to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People\'s Republic of China at the Bauhinia Square. Prior to the flag-raising ceremony, the Chief Executive, Mr. John K.C. Li, approached each uniformed group to show his respect and receive salutes from each of them.
2024-06-29The Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture Chinese Secondary Students Writing Competition Star of Chinese Literature of the Rising Sun Ceremony 2023-2024

Star of Chinese Literature of the Rising Sun Ceremony for Chinese Secondary Students Writing Competition was successfully held at the Hong Kong Central Library on June 29. A total of 79,897 Hong Kong students entered the competition. Chau Lo, a 5B student from our school, stood out among them and won the first prize in the country and the Star of Chinese Literature of the Rising Sun of the Hong Kong Division. With only 16 students from Hong Kong receiving this honor, the results are nothing less than encouraging.

Organized by the Youth and Moral Education Section of the Independent Commission Against Corruption(ICAC) and in cooperation with Buddhist Lim Kim Tian Memorial Primary School, Letter From Companion was held on June 27. Grade 6 students of Buddhist Lim Kim Tian Memorial Primary School wrote a letter sharing their inner troubles and each S1 student from our school will reply to a letter like a friend who is ready to answer their classmates’ worries and gives words of comfort encouragement. In the process, our S1 classmates reply seriously and provide sincere and heartwarming advice.

"Digi-Science” Video Production Competition for Hong Kong Secondary Schools 2023-24 was organized by the Hong Kong Association for Science and Mathematics Education. This year, students were required to make a science video and write an investigation report about “Testing Science – Sustainability in Daily Life”. Our students made a video named “Preliminary methods to categorizing plastic bottles for recycling in school" and got the merit prize in the aforementioned competition.

Congratulations to 5D Lam Tak Shing, Chin Ka Wang, Kwok Chun Hei, Luo Tsz Fung, 5B Yu Kin Leung and 4C Chan Cham Hei for achieving excellent results in the Microsoft Office Specialist Championship 2024. Winner's certificates were presented by the Certiport management team in the award ceremony. 2024-06-26STEAM Exhibition
S1 and S2 students joined a STEAM exhibition on 26th June, 2024. S2 students designed "smart products" for target groups, utilizing design thinking skills and coding skills they had learned in STEAM lessons. It provided a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and interactive learning across the grade levels.

Organized by the Association of the Heads of Secondary Schools of Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung & Tsing Yi District, 34th Tsuen Wan, Kwai Chung and Tsing Yi Districts Outstanding Students Award Ceremony ran smoothly on 20 June 2024. Our school was responsible for venue arrangements and Sin Tak ambassadors, who contributed a lot in different areas from reception, work of masters of ceremony, prize presentation and logistics, discharged their duties competently and devotedly and thus made the event a success.
2024-06-19Inter-class 3x3 basketball competition
In this activity, five players, including both male and female participants from each class compete against each other on the basketball court. The competition follows a round-robin format to determine the champions, runners-up, third-place, and fourth-place teams in each form.
2024-05-25International Mathematical Olympiad Preliminary Selection Contest - Hong Kong 2024

5D Chan Sing Yu won the Bronze Award from International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Preliminary Selection Contest - Hong Kong 2024. He would receive follow-on training programmes. The students with outstanding performance in the subsequent training sessions will be selected to represent Hong Kong to take part in the IMO and regional mathematical Olympiads in 2025.

2024-04-18Taster Lessons For three Primary Schools
Three Primary Schools participated in our Taster Lessons, namely Po Leung Kuk Castar Primary School , S.K.H Yan Laap Primary School and S.K.H Tsing Yi Chu Yan Primary School. A total of 120 primary school students participated. Participants took part in different lessons enthusiastically. In addition, there was a sharing session on secondary school life specially arranged that day, with graduates of the above primary schools taking part, creating a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
2024-04-13S3-S5 students visiting the HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine
A group of our S3-S5 students had the opportunity to visit the renowned HKU Medical School on April 13, 2024. This visit aimed to provide our students with an enriching experience in the field of medicine. The highlight of the visit was the virtual reality (VR) anatomy tour held at the Medical Library. Our students were able to step into the world of three-dimensional visualization and gain a deeper understanding of the structures and physiological functions of the human body. Additionally, our students had the privilege of visiting the Nursing department, where they were exposed to a high-fidelity human patient simulation. Led by expert instructors, this hands-on experience provided our students with an opportunity to witness and participate in procedures such as stitches removal and injection. This practical encounter allowed our students to appreciate the critical aspects of patient care and medical treatments. Furthermore, the visit included an admissions information session and Q&A session facilitated by Professor Pui Hong Chung. Professor Chung shared valuable insights about the admission process, curriculum, and various career opportunities available at the Medical School. This visit has ignited students’ passion for studying medical-related studies and equipped them with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their future academic pursuits.
2024-04-05S.4 Students Visiting the Court of Final Appeal (Organized by the Citizenship and Social Development Department)
On 25th April 2024, S.4B Students joined the Court of Final Appeal guided visit. Founded in 1912, the building has a long history and is now a declared monument. During the tour, students had the opportunity to learn the history and operation of the Court of Final Appeal, and enhance their understanding of the architectural heritage of the building. The tour encourages students to establish positive values like “rule of law”, “Law-abidingness” and “national identity” and proper attitudes.

To support sustainable development, the MCE Team and the Volunteer Service Team organized an activity called GREEN @ SINTAK, encouraging students to recycle three types of products, including plastic bottles, beverage cartons, and other plastics. The promotion of the activity was planned and implemented by the Students’ Union, Tidal. All Form 2 classes assisted their schoolmates in doing the recycling work. Enthusiastic responses from teachers and students were received and 31.3 kg of recyclable materials were collected in 8 days. The recyclable materials were brought to the recycling store nearby by our Form 2 students after school.

2024-03-05Workshop on Information Literacy organized by the MCE Team
Form one to Form five students joined a workshop on Information Literacy to raise their awareness on using information ethically as well as refrain from immoral practices such as cyber bullying and infringing intellectual property rights. Students watched a show on the use of the Internet and discussed the consequences of actions taken by netizens and the media. Students learned that information they shared with others could be targeted by cyber-bullies naming and shaming individuals in the name of internet justice. Therefore everyone has to think twice before joining a heated discussion as it might bring negative impacts on one’s social image and reputation
2024-03-04Flying high with your dreams
S6 students would experience their first public examS in life in mid March. To show our support to S6 students, MCE Team organized a campaign named "Flying high with your dream". S1 to S5 students wrote messages to show support to their fellow schoolmates. S6 students threw paper planes carrying their good wishes and encouragement for their schoolmates, symbolising their aspirations for success in their DSE exams.
2024-03-01Mainland Study Tour to Guangzhou Experiential School of Labor and Technology for Secondary School Students by Citizenship and Social Development Department
120 Form Five students joined a mainland study tour to Guangzhou Experiential School of Labor and Technology for Secondary School Students organized by the Education Bureau. As an activity based in Guangzhou for students' comprehensive practice, the school provides experiential learning programmes in a number of areas including technology, life safety, the rule of law and the environment. Students also had an opportunity to learn about Chinese culture by making batik and Chinese herbal sachets, together with brewing and serving techniques of Chinese tea. The study tour provides students with the learning opportunity to deepen their understanding of the latest situation and development of the country, and enhance their knowledge and appreciation of Chinese culture and national achievements.

Additionally, newly appointed senior patrol leaders, patrol leaders, and assistant patrol leaders have received their appointments. The 15th South Kwai Chung Group will participate in the Scout Cup 2023. Principal Chan presented our Scout flag to our competitors, encouraging them to give their best effort and wishing them all the best.

S2 students visited the Hong Kong Space Museum on 26th February, 2024. They visited exhibition halls to explore astronomy and space science. They also watched "Secrets of the Universe 3D" to learn more about the origin of the universe. They expanded their knowledge and understanding of astronomy in an engaging way at the museum.
